Divorce and Remarriage

Most people in divorce and remarriage situations (or divorced and thinking of remarrying) think that all they have to do is be really, really sorry for their divorce and remarriage. They see it as Jesus saying that the act was adultery but once they are actually remarried and really sorry, it is somehow magically no longer adultery. They do not believe the Lord when He says a man and woman become one flesh and are married till death parts them. They do not believe the Lord when He says that if a woman leaves her husband she is to remain single or be reconciled to her husband.

Consider the following.
Someone steals your car. You are standing on the street corner waiting to cross the road and all the sudden here comes your car driving up to the stop sign. The man inside rolls down the window and says, "I am SO SORRY for stealing your car. I really, really am!" and then he rolls back up the window and drives away.

Is he really sorry?

Consider the following.
A gay couple who were married in the eyes of the government (they had a piece of paper that said so and also civil laws to back it up) decided to start following the Lord. They saw how the word of God spoke directly against being gay and they were really, really sorry. They begged the Lord for forgiveness. They really were sorry. But then they stayed in the gay marriage.

Were they really sorry?

Now consider this.
A couple who were married in the eyes of the government (they had a piece of paper that said so and also civil laws to back it up) decided to start following the Lord. They saw how the word of God spoke directly against living in adultery and they realized that since one of them had a previous marriage and their spouse was still living, they were committing adultery. They were really, really sorry. They begged the Lord for forgiveness. They really were storry. But then they stayed in the adulterous marriage.

Were they really sorry?

I am so sorry for committing adultery ... but I'm going to go ahead and stay in the adulterous relationship.

WAKE UP! DON'T BE DECEIVED! THIS IS A LIE FROM SATAN!

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
