I put this on facebook but decided it was blog worthy. I have already done 'sober' and 'love their husbands' ... and I just now have 'love their children' ready too. So, I will be posting THREE posts in a row. This was originally a discussion on facebook, so it will come out odd on here ... I don't want to take the time to change it!

When I first started reading the bible, I thought 'sober' meant not drunk and not silly. Well ... it does mean those things, but I do think having a few silly moments is acceptable :) in the right situations.
Sober does NOT mean sitting around all somber-faced and never smiling. I agree with what everyone else said and especially with the thought that it means to be on guard or aware of our surroundings.
Maybe we can share some things or actions that would NOT be sober? Something that comes to my mind are things that are diversions or distractions. Things that might not necessarily be wrong in and of themselves, but they cause your mind to lose focus, to relax, to forget to be 'circumspect' etc. This could be different for everyone but of course some could have the same struggles.
Well, that's all I have time for right now. Thank you all for your comments and thoughts.
Yes - FB was one thing on my mind. We must be very careful how we are spending our time on the internet in general. The verse about wandering about from house to house comes to mind. These days we don't have to leave our home to be 'wandering about'. I am so sad when I see women spending so much time on the internet and saying "I'll be there in a minute" to their children so many times throughout the day. All for what? What is so important on the internet that your child cannot have your undivided attention? And it's not just the children that suffer. Something for everyone to think about.
Reading books comes to mind as well. I know some that will read and read and read ... and ignore other responsibilities that are pressing. Some read at night after their children go to bed, but then they stay up late (this can happen on the internet as well) and are tired the next morning. Groggy and not as perky and bright and attentive as they should or could be.
Television and movies ... the same above applies to these and so many other things.
